To as much as possible reduce their risk, players use face gear or other types of protection.

The batter, wicketkeeper, players in the slip cordon (in Test cricket), and umpires all wear helmets or other cricket-specific protective gear because they are the closest to the cricket pitch. The individuals who make the greatest contact with the ball are the bowlers.

Warren Barnes had to wear face gear in Super Smash T20 Championship

When he and Rob Walters developed protective equipment for bowlers, Warren Barnes of the Otago Volts cricket team was the first to set the pattern. In the 2017 Super Smash T20 championship game, Barnes used it in a match against the Northern Knights.

He hadn’t been hurt before his experiment, but there had been times when bowlers had been struck by the ball and their bruises put them in a difficult situation.

He went on to capture three wickets in that game, demonstrating that the protective gear had no impact on his performance. The face mask had lessened the chance of harm, so he seemed to be perfectly at ease with his play.

Andrew Ellis had to wear face gear while playing for Canterbury

Rishi Dhawan had to wear face gear in IPL 2022

The newest member of this group is Rishi Dhawan, who has seen sporting headgear on April 25th during an IPL 2022 match against the Chennai Super Kings. Punjab Kings also made a video of him wearing the helmet during one of their practices.

Dhawan had a severe nose injury during the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy season. Prior to the start of the IPL, the captain of the Himachal Pradesh team underwent surgery; as a result, he was forced to miss the first few matches of the season. Dhawan rejoined the IPL after a five-year absence. At the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he put on a terrific performance and helped his team to their first triumph.
